Published on Amazon! Here's the link to purchase the full color, hardcover edition of this luminous journey through three interconnected stories: Donald's artist father transforms that beloved folktale into a compassionate, hands-on cooking lesson, set in a 1965 Bronx kitchen, a war-torn European village, and then back in the Bronx. Admondo taught his 8-year-old son that the real miracle isn't in the rock, it's in the coming together to share meager supplies, in the preparation of the soup (chopping, stirring, tasting), and in the joy of eating the miraculous soup together. Three stories. One unforgettable recipe for community, connection, and the kind of kitchen wisdom that changes lives.

Through his shining example, he taught me that life's greatest treasures are found in lifting others up.

We want to encourage children who have been diagnosed with dyslexia to overcome any stigma and difficulties, and find joy in learning new ways to thrive and grow in the world.

My Father’s Miraculous Rock Soup -  A Timeless Tale of Imagination, Resilience, Compassion and the Blessing of Community
In a world that moves too fast and forgets too easily, My Father’s Miraculous Rock Soup stands as a soulful invitation to pause, remember, and believe again. Born from the heart of a true story passed down from father to son, this tale is more than a book. It is a beautifully crafted legacy of love, a celebration of ingenuity in hardship, a lesson in inspiring compassion, and a tribute to the quiet miracles fathers create with nothing but a folk tale, a small rock and a loving, hands-on lesson on cooking. The story is crafted in three parts, ‘Finding the Rock,’ set in the Bronx, ‘The Soldier’s Plan,’ set in a war-torn European village, and ‘Making Rock Soup with My Dad’ back in the Bronx. This evocative story is rich with cultural detail and heartwarming illustrations. Donald Rubbo beautifully captures the moment a young boy first learns that miracles are not made from plenty — they are made from what we’re willing to share.

My Father's Miraculous Rock Soup is a luminous reimagining of the beloved Stone Soup folktale, destined to become a cherished classic in children’s literature. This extraordinary storybook, with its innovative three-part structure and expansive 125–140-page journey, soars beyond all previous adaptations, weaving a tapestry of trust, faith, hope, love, and community that resonates across generations. Set against the intimate backdrop of a 1965 Bronx kitchen, and expanding into a war-torn European village, this full-color, 7"x10" hardcover masterpiece transforms a simple tale into a profound exploration of life’s small miracles.

In “Finding the Rock,” we meet eight-year-old Donald, whose father introduces him to the miracle of Stone Soup in their modest Bronx home, grounding the story in heartfelt family bonds. “The Soldier’s Plan” transports readers to a distant village, rekindling the classic folktale with fresh emotional depth and vivid storytelling. Finally, “Making Rock Soup with My Dad” returns to the Bronx, where the lessons of sharing and love culminate in a deeply personal celebration of connection. This triptych structure—unique among Stone Soup adaptations—elevates the narrative, offering young readers and families a richer, more layered experience that speaks to both heart and soul.
At its heart, My Father’s Miraculous Rock Soup is a story that speaks not only to what we have — but what we make of it.

Through faith, hope, and love, a war-ravaged, fear-stricken community gathers — and through the skillful, evocative guidance of a stranger, a weary Soldier journeying home from war, the villagers are coaxed to open their storehouses and their hearts, and transform their meager supplies into a feast of nourishing and nurturing abundance, thereby creating powerful, lasting bonds of generosity and shared fellowship.

From school classrooms in Tokyo to kitchens in Cape Town, from bedtime in Brooklyn to story circles in São Paulo, this universal tale resonates across language, class, and culture. The story’s visual richness  -  nostalgic, tactile, and deeply human - inspires an emotional connection that lingers long after the final page.

My Father’s Miraculous Rock Soup storybook is a visual and emotional masterpiece, the story is written by Donald Rubbo, from a memory from his childhood, and every AI-Assisted illustration is personally crafted by Donald Rubbo with extensive, all-inclusive artistic direction. These AI-assisted visuals honor traditional storytelling while embracing new creative technologies, honoring, and building upon, the groundbreaking artistic legacy of Donald’s father, Don Rubbo, as well as Donald’s comprehensive, multi-disciplinary artistic career.
What sets this book apart is its ability to blend timeless wisdom with modern relevance. The lush, full-color illustrations breathe life into every page, capturing the warmth of the Bronx kitchen and the resilience of a war-torn community with equal vibrancy. Unlike shorter, traditional Stone Soup retellings (like Marcia Brown’s 48-page classic or Jon J. Muth’s 32-page adaptation), this book’s extended length allows for a deeper dive into character, emotion, and meaning, making it a standout for ages 4–10 and beyond. Its 7"x10" hardcover format, printed with IngramSpark’s high-quality standards, ensures it’s a keepsake to be treasured for years.

My Father's Miraculous Rock Soup is a must-buy for families, educators, and libraries seeking a story that not only entertains but inspires. It surpasses its predecessors by infusing the folktale with personal resonance, cultural richness, and universal themes, making it an essential addition to every bookshelf. This is not just a book—it’s a legacy, a celebration of the blessings found in small things, and a reminder that the simplest ingredients, when shared with love, can create miracles. Don’t miss this soon-to-be-classic that will warm hearts and spark conversations for generations to come.
